"My travel companion & I had a rather unpleasant obligation that drew us to Brownfield unexpectedly & neither of us truly thought we would enjoy any part of our unplanned stay, but I'm pleased to tell you that the Crystal Palace Inn was an absolute delight & a refreshing surprise at the end of a long & draining chain of events throughout a 6 hour drive of mostly unoccupied farmlands to the dot on a map that you'll miss if you blink that is this astonishingly vacant & remote village that barely constitutes a full blown city. Admittedly not our first choice when looking thru the small handful of available options in this microscopic town, we hesitantly decided to go check it out after reading the numerous disappointing reviews of the local Holiday Inn Express. They were apparently undergoing very sloppy renovations that left nearly all their guests wholly unsatisfied w their stay. CPI was not only considerably less expensive, but had dozens of absolutely glowing reviews, & plenty of guest submitted photos which highlighted the Inn's beautifully unconventional decor & atmosphere, featuring some of the loveliest eccentric vintage style furniture I've ever seen, except it looked mint as though they'd bought it yesterday from a high-end retailer. I wish we'd taken any photos of our own but we were too busy enjoying every bit of the well-stocked & impeccably maintained space, the most luxurious feature being the outside wall where the door is being comprised entirely of a floor-to-ceiling window which only added to the open feel of the already surprisingly spacious room. The staff were unfaltering in their genuine friendliness & truly made us feel welcome in every way, even allowing us to check in early at no additional cost due to our last-minute circumstances & budget. We were not required to use a credit card for the deposit as long as we have a copy of a valid ID on file, & we received the entire cash deposit that we paid back in full upon departing 2 days later w no issue whatsoever. The location was smack dab in the dead center of everything we needed access to during our stay & we were literally able to walk to every necessity we required, allowing us to save on gas & enjoy the picture-perfect weather while relaxing & exploring the cozy unfamiliar city together. It really made the whole experience, which easily could have been stress-filled & nerve-wracking, a memorable & even somewhat ironically romantic impromptu getaway rather than a chaotic, taxing incumbency. Our sole complaint was that when we had to begrudgingly return to Brownfield a day later after making the long trek to the hustle & bustle of our enormous city of San Antonio & back again to tend to our dogs back home, we required an additional room as we had to bring along a 3rd party for this leg of our trip, & sadly the Inn was unable to accommodate all of us as they only had one vacant room available. Though I must say that after experiencing all this hidden gem has to offer, we weren't the least bit surprised to find they were nearly all booked up.
The nature of our business that brought us to this friendly & quaint little town was unfortunately anything other than pleasurable, but we are sincerely considering a return visit sometime just to stay at this beautiful little Inn again & walk the dusty streets hand-in-hand amidst all of the smiling faces that all seem to know one another, yet still welcomed us in despite our being painfully obvious outsiders & more than a little conspicuous as awkward & uncertain visitors. The sincerity of warmth w which the staff regarded us during every interaction & the astonishingly comfortable & stylish accomodations made a lasting impression on us that left us w some memories that, while undoubtedly the kind that will last a lifetime, also beg a return trip more relaxed in nature that we might turn what could easily have been a nightmarish endeavor into a romantic nostalgia dreamscape that we cherish for years to come."
"Best weekly rate in town. You get what you pay for. It's comfy enough for me. The hot water is hot. The air conditioner is cold. It's not crowded. There's no breakfast but I don't want breakfast anyway. There's a bar that may or may not be open. Mostly old timers and dominoes during the week. The bar does get kinda rowdy on Friday and Saturday nights. You might see some police in the parking lot and you might hear the jukebox if you're outside. The owner is very good about turning junkies away. If you look like a junkie you should probably go somewhere else. The sheriff's department/county jail is next door."
